Our Calling
I was saved and Baptized in January of 1996 at Southwest Baptist Church in Oklahoma City, Pastor Sam Davision. God called me to the ministry in 1997 at our annual Missions Conference. In 1998 our church to a mission's trip to Mexico City, there the Lord began to work on my heart about the country of Mexico. After a trip to Juarez, Mexico in 2001, the Lord gave me peace that His calling was to Mexico in a ministry of HELPS.
My wife was saved and Baptized in January of 2004 at Bethel Baptist Church, Wichita, Kansas. She woke me up one evening after attending Church and told me that if she were to die right then, she knew would go to Hell. Thank God Jesus saves. I had the privilege of leading her to the Lord that night. She surrendered her life to the full-time ministry in Mexico in the fall of 2005.
Our Experience
God has prepared us in many ways for this type of ministry, including thru Bible College, in practical training at Southwest Baptist Church and in the Spanish Ministry we started at Bethel Baptist Church.
At Southwest, I worked several years as a Sunday School teacher, Junior Church Preacher, Bus Captain, and Nursing Home Leader, I also was a summer intern in 1998. (In the English Church)
In 1999 my wife and I met and HELPED Bro. Cliff Garvey start a Spanish Ministry that began with 2 families. Now after 7 years, the ministry averages about 100 people each Sunday morning and they have their own building.
In the Spanish Ministry we started a children's Sunday School class, the Junior Church, a bus route, I led the music for all adult services, we started several singing groups and I preached frequently. I also taught a soul-winning couse to the adults. What a great blessing and a privilege it was to work with the Hispanic folks at Southwest. We served with Bro. Garvey until the summer of 2003, when the Lord moved us to Wichita, Kansas.
In Wichita Pastor Ted Swope asked us to start a Spanish Ministry. We began a Spanish Ministry in 2004 with one family and ministry grew to include several families. While in Wichita, we went soul-winning, visiting and had special activities for all ages. I led the music, preached and counseled as needed. My wife taught the children and helped me wherever possible.
Then in 2005 during our Fall revival the Lord began to deal with us about starting deputation and after consulting with our Pastor, we agreed that we should start deputation full time August 1st, 2006.
Update: April 2008
We have postponed deputation to work with Hope Baptist Church in Juarez, Mexico. We will be working with the Youth for the next year or two. Please pray for us. Amen.
